James Stewart, an American actor and a former military officer also had $30 million net worth before he passed on in 1997. James Stewart often referred to simply as Jimmy Stewart was one of the most popular actors of the Hollywood’s golden age.
Stewart himself fought in the second world war and the Vietnam war and reached the rank of Brigadier general. Stewart also got two awards in golden globe awards and also honored by the Hollywood. James Stewart died of a pulmonary embolism on July 2, 1997 at the age of 89.
Early Life
James Stewart was born on May 20, 1908 in Indiana, Pennsylvania as the first born of the family, the only boy to Elizabeth and Alexander. His younger brothers and sisters were Mary and Virginia. Born a Presbyterian by his religious father he remained a consistent church goer until most of his years.
He had initially been groomed for the succession and was supposed to inherit his father’s business, the J. M. Stewart and Company Hardware Store but Stewart had a different plan. Young man wanted to work in aviation field, when he grows up.
Stewart got his education at the Wilson Model School and his education was not very impressive because most of his time he daydreamt. He later got to Mercersburg Academy he joined track and field crew, worked as staff of the school year book, and the glee club.
Career
Stewart started his Broadway career in 1932 with a play called “Carry Nation”. In the following year he did a minor but quite liked comedy “Goodbye Again”. Other plays that Stewart performed in are “Spring in Autumn”, “All Good Americans”, “Yellow Jack”, “Divided by Three” and “Page Miss Glory”.
Stewart first got into the television scene what could be estimated to be at the 60s and 70s. He acted in John Ford’s teleplay “Flashing Spikes” in ABC’s anthology Alcoa Premiere in 1962 He had his own NBC sitcom, The Jimmy Stewart Show in early 70s and also acted in CBS legal drama mystery series Hawkins.
But their run was brief, as the series was cancelled after the first season; nonetheless, Stewart was awarded a Golden Globe for his portraying the small-town lawyer. In the early 80s, he enacted in Mr. Krueger’s Christmas and Right of Way, two television films in the subsequent years.
Death
Cooper’s playboy colleague in Hollywood was Stewart, with whom he shared not only friendship, but also a flat and many years of cooperation, although, they acted together only once – in 1954. Actresses Ginger Rogers, Norma Shearer, Loretta Young, Marlene Dietrich and Olivia de Havilland.
Stewart began a series of marriages as well and in the year 1949 he got married to his first wife Gloria Hatrick an actress and an ex-model. He took up her two young sons from her previous marriage, namely Ronald and Michael and they had twin girls named Judy and Kelly. The two stayed married until Hatrick’s death in 1994.
